Miramar Lake in Beautiful Scripps Ranch!

Lake Loot Cache - GC578

I finally got around to getting some photos for the Lake Loot Cache. This cache is only about 500 feet from my house and it's the first one I found. These photos were taken on Saturday, June 23rd.

01 the lake road.JPG (57510 bytes)

This is the Lake Miramar "road". It's just less than five miles around the lake and great for jogging, biking, strolling, whatever, especially on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday when it is closed to vehicular traffic. This is where I jog 3 or 4 times a week.

02 From Rd Looking up.JPG (92100 bytes)

This is from the lake road looking up toward the cache.

04 the lake.JPG (85546 bytes)

This is a view of the lake from the lake road.

05 go right.JPG (74224 bytes)

If you're seeking the cache and parked at the main lot off Scripps Lake Drive, walk counterclockwise around the road until you see this path which will be between the 3/4 and one mile markers. Take it.

06 go left here.JPG (75326 bytes)

After about a hundred yards up the hill you'll see a fork. The right fork goes up to Lake View Park and my house. The left fork is the one you want.

07 Trail near the cache.JPG (94541 bytes)

Follow the trail around until your GPS tells you you're getting warm, then look for a smaller side trail. Take it toward the cache. It will get you within a few feet.

08 to the lake.JPG (88664 bytes)  10 to my house.JPG (69394 bytes)

These two were taken from Lake View Park, one looking toward the lake, the other toward my house.

11 from Mira Lago.JPG (74879 bytes)

This is a view of the Lake from Mira Lago Terrace, adjacent to Lake View Park.

Lake Loot #2

GC11B0, July 26, 2001

Hey, they snuck this one in on me. It was hidden on July 20 but I didn't find out about it until the afternoon of 26th when I did a routine search for new Geocaches on www.geocaching.com. I punched in the coordinates and my receiver told me the cache was 0.66 miles from my house, so I put on my sneakers, grabbed the wife (even she can walk that far) and headed down to the Lake. After a pleasant afternoon stroll we found the cache easily. The coordinates where right on. Here is a Topo! track and profile of our strenuous walk.

That's me and the cache, the contents of the cache and Lorri taking my photo with the cache camera.
