Adventures in Dublin

At this point we were awake for a loooong time!

"The Green" being St. Stephen's Green, a beautiful park in the middle of Dublin

A favorite son

The Green was in full bloom

Our hotel, if it were on this map would be right about in the center of the block to the south.

In the Park on the footbridge. Watch out for the swans!

"Toasties" Served all day!

Mr. Kehoe keeps watch

The first of the famous pubs we visited

The first of many perfect pints in Ireland

Lots of new gins for Jack to explore!

Another stop!

Molly Malone Statue. I wonder where you rub for good luck?

Directly behind our hotel was Iveagh Gardens.

We could see parts of it from our window

One of those windows on the top floor was ours!

Waterfall in the park

Another Pub!

The Bleeding Horse Pub dates to 1871

Lock C6! The Canal used to transport lots of Guinness!

Breakfast at the hotel

The River Liffey

We were on the north side of the River

Looking for the Epic Museum

The first of many beautiful weather days in Ireland and England!

We found it! The Epic Museum of Irish Emigration!

The good Irish Woman!

I don't think this is quite accurate. My doctor tells me that I am now 6'2".

Street art evoking times of famine

Hard to look at

Ha'Penny Bridge

Ha'Penny Bridge again. That makes a whole penny.

Another view of the River with the Customs House (maybe) in the distance.

Approaching the Temple Bar area

In the Temple Bar itself!

Close-up!

The bar at the Temple Bar

The Dublin Castle

We missed the tour, so we missed a lot of castle stuff.

Here is some Castle info

We got to see a lot of old portraits and old furniture

Old Furniture

Old people in the mirror

The Throne!

Flags and ornate decor

Guess what?

Yes! Bangers, mash, and a gin and tonic!

Live music! We thought we'd hear some traditional Irish music but this guy was doing soft rock covers.

Nice pub, though. Devitts!

78 Lower Camden Street if you're looking for it

Didn't go in this one as we had an appointment at Guinness, but we did like the hanging baskets. Spitalfields! In the heart of the Liberties!

On to the Storehouse!

Beer drinkers Mecca

1902 to 1988! That's a long fermentation!

Need anything Guinness?

I knew it had to be the water!

That's 449.6 degrees Fahrenheit! Hot stuff!

Burp!

10AM? What do they do the rest of the day?

Time for a Guinness!

There is a real Guinness harp!

Harp lager!

Guinness! For my strength!

For my crabby friends from Maryland!

Ahhhh! The payoff!

Great views from the top floor tasting bar!

I thought I was seeing double!

Works of art!

Where the real work gets done!

I need another one, she says.

Christ Church Cathedral

Leo Burdock Fish and Chips

Famous!

Our (second) room at Staunton's on the Green

Very nice!

Looking back over the hotel garden to the park beyond.

We had to visit the world-famous Shelbourne Hotel
The Horseshoe Bar at the Shelbourne Hotel

Our drinks

Some info

Dinner at No 27 Bar at the Shelbourne

Or maybe it was the Saddle Room

And so ends our stay in Dublin!
On to Galway!
