40th Anniversary Celebration!

Little Italy Airbnb

July 10-13

Once again we celebrated our anniversary downtown in the Little Italy area.

This was our second stay at this particular location on Kettner, directly above Rovino. Those are our giant windows facing Kettner and on the side of the building. The Waterfront Grill is just to the right.

Lorri relaxing

Our view included approaching airplanes, the Devil's Dozen Donut Shop and Kettner Exchange, a restaurant.

The kitchen - Bosch appliances and All-clad pots and pans!

The front door faces the Bay

View from the front

View of our car in its assigned spot. Nice that secure parking is included!

View from our side balcony

First Stop: A new restaurant called Piedra Santa. Google Translate says that means "Holy Stone"

We didn't notice any holy stones but...

The Argentinian inspired meat was hard to miss!

So was the seafood bar.

Cheers to Thursday Happy Hour

If I'm not mistaken, that's a Cowboy Cut in the young lady's hand

We enjoyed an order of the Oysters Rockefeller

And this is what our plate looked like after we ate them. They were good!

Some day we'll come back for dinner!

Had a drink at Allegro

Then we stopped at Roman Wolves on Kettner, a couple blocks from our Airbnb.

After a quick break at the Airbnb, we stopped by Davanti Enoteca for some meatballs and a Caesar salad...

...and some people watching from our table by the sidewalk

We've stayed at Le Pensione Hotel many times

We walked by Filippi's

And Landini's

Barbusa

LaLa

We ended up at an art gallery

Where we met a young artist who created works using little pieces of sticky tape!

Friday morning we dropped in at the Waterfront for breakfast and Bloody's and an endless parade of delivery trucks

After breakfast we hopped on the Green Line trolley for a trip to Old Town

We had not been there for quite a while

But not much has changed

Town square looks the same

House margaritas and chips at OTMC look the same (but cost twice as much as our last visit)

The Birthplace of California!

Relaxing with a glass of wine on the Piazza della Famiglia

Relaxing with a glass of wine at the Winehouse

Friday night dinner was at Kettner Exchange

We split a half of a duck which was excellent!

Saturday

We again jumped on the Green Line trolley and took it the opposite direction to the Gaslamp Quarter

There was a 4:30 ballgame vs. the Phillies and the Gaslamp was overflowing with baseball fans! Including us, but we did not go to the game.

Fans at Bub's

Better leave that chair between Gwynn and Harper

Western Metal Supply view from Sixth St.

The fans were pouring in!

We were surprised at how clean and user-friendly the trolleys were

I'm sure that just before and after the game, they were a lot more crowded.

Our ride awaits!

Just kidding. We stayed in (mostly) on Saturday and drank nice wine and made a nice dinner.

We brought the lamb chops with us but the rest of the dinner consisted of bounty purchased earlier at the Little Italy Farmers' Market

Finally, after dinner we strolled back to the Piazza for a nightcap. All I have are these two videos:

Lorri: What shall I have to Drink?

Lorri: Where do you think we are?

It was a great way to celebrate 40 wonderful years together!
