| On St. Patrick's
day weekend we were lucky enough to find ourselves in Palm Desert, CA, as
guests of Jeff and Pam Stablein and Hunsaker and Associates at the lovely
Hidden Palms Resort and Tennis Club. Although the weather was less than
ideal, we had a great time talking, reminiscing and solving some of the
world's more pressing problems. Here are a few photos.
Here is Lorri sitting on the couch of the Condo with her latest Knitting project, a scarf for ME!
This is a view of the sky from the patio of the condo. You may notice there are also some palm trees in this photo.
This is Lorri sitting on the patio from which the above photo was taken. Lorri has stopped knitting and has started to read a book. If this is getting too exciting for you, now would be a good time to take a break and catch your breath.
Jeff and Pam arrived Thursday, St. Patrick's Day afternoon. Here they are with Lorri on the patio. The titillating aroma of corned beef and cabbage was wafting through the condo. I guess that's why we were outside in the patio.
On Friday we went to the Crossroads Renaissance Fair in Palm Springs where we hung around for a while and bought stuff. Here Lorri and Pam are deciding what to buy while Jeff is in the background perusing the merchandise.
The creature in the foreground of this photo is a skull sitting atop a walking stick. The creature in the background is Jeffrey, aka Snake. He did not buy this particular stick but he did buy a staff with a carved snake head.
Lorri and Pam bought woven baskets made in Ghana from this guy. They came in handy for carrying all the other stuff they bought later.
The next day, Saturday, we went over the the La Quinta Arts Festival to look around. This is Lorri looking around.

Jeff and Lorri with mountains in the background. The rain held off but it was cloudy, then sunny, then cloudy, etc.
This sculpture reminded me an awful lot of the Nittany Lion of Penn State so I asked the artist about it. He had never heard of a Nittany Lion so I got his card and will be sending him some Penn State stuff.
This is the "real" Nittany Lion in case any of you were wondering what I was talking about. I ripped this picture from a Penn State web site. Notice the similarities?
I thought these landscapes in a landscape made an interesting photo and it's the last one I took. So, if you're not asleep by now, thanks for visiting. |
