Wednesday Morning: Hiking the Colorado Trail (sort of)
After a tough day on the Alpine Loop on Tuesday we were ready for a little relaxing so we explored trails near Molas Lake. As it turns out, the Colorado Trail (see http://www.coloradotrail.org/Cthome.htm) which stretches from Durango to Denver passes nearby. The area to the east of Route 550 is called the Weminuche (pronounced "Weminuche") Wilderness.

Wednesday Afternoon: Lunch in Ouray
Ouray is another former mining town located a few miles north of Silverton. It is very picturesque and surrounded by tall peaks, giving it kind of a Swiss feel. We had a good burger and beer at the Goldbelt where we ran into another group of 4WD vehicles on "The Ultimate Adventure", a rally put on by Four Wheel Drive and Off-Road Magazine, mainly for their manufacturer advertisers and a couple lucky readers.
