October 14, 2002. The weather was still pretty nasty as we drove easterly across the State of Maine toward the coast. We found a place to camp at a private campground and set up. The next morning was clear but windy and cool.

From our camp spot we could see the water.

We were sort of surprised to see a big cruise ship in the harbor. I wonder if it was the same one we saw in Newport, Rhode Island.

This tells you about about Egg Rock Lighthouse. Mount Desert Island is the island on which Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park are located.

The next night we camped at Blackwoods Campground in Acadia. From our camp site we took a nice little hike toward Cadillac Mountain. We didn't get too far because it was getting dark and the trail was a jumble of tree roots, rocks and other natural hazards.

The Hikers

This little pond caught our eye as we drove around the island.
