Plymouth Rocks!
Oh, right, it's Cleveland that rocks, but at least Plymouth has a rock although, after all these years, imagining what the Plymouth Rock looked like, it was sort of a letdown. See below.
October 8, 2002. We left Cape Cod and continued up the craggy coast to Plymouth, MA, home of the Mayflower II, Plymouth and lots of tour buses.
Here is the Mayflower II which actually sailed here from England back when Richard Nixon was Vice-President. We know this because we saw the photos.
We took a tour of the ship where I snapped this photo of Lorri with a latter day Pilgrim.
On the left is the Plymouth Rock Sign, which I enjoyed more than the Rock itself. On the right is "The Rock". They keep it in a cage so it can't escape and nobody can walk off with it. I feel sorry for it. It says "1620" on it. How did so many Pilgrims land on one rock?
Plymouth Plantation
We also visited Plymouth Plantation (it was a package deal with the Mayflower II!). It's actually a pretty cool re-creation of a 1627 settlement where the "Pilgrims" are actors that play their parts in character. You can ask them questions like "What year is it?" and they will answer "1627"
