On Thursday April 25th, 2002, we jumped in the van and headed toward Las Vegas on I-15. It's about a 325 mile trip from San Diego to The Strip but it took us five hours because we were forced to stop and sample a "Tommy Burger" in beautiful Barstow, CA. As many of you know, the original Tommy's is somewhere in LA, close enough to USC so that many USC students, including Dick Hunsaker many years ago, subsist entirely on Tommy's double chili cheese burgers. mmmm. Apparently there are so many USC grads living in Barstow now that Tommy thought locating a restaurant there would be lucrative. An alternate theory is that there are so many USC students and alumni driving from LA to LV on a regular basis, Tommy thoughtfully placed his store about halfway between.
Anyway, the whole point to this story is that any adventure that begins with a world-famous Tommy Burger is off to a great start.

Just to give you an idea of what you're in for, here is a sample of my photography which I have titled "Mule Butts". Ansel Adams, eat your heart out.
