May 3 to 7, Palm Springs Getaway!

This is our third stay at this fine little Inn, right in the heart of Palm Springs!

It has seven units, a pool, hot tub, free sun screen, lots of books, and a nice view of the mountains! We stayed in Unit 2 this time.

This is a view of part of the pool and part of my feet.

This is the same view with a Yeti beverage vessel which contains an ice-cold margarita. (Getting ready for Cinco de Mayo!)

Looking toward Unit 8, the Presidential Suite.

Looking toward the BBQ grill and hot tub back in the corner.

The living room

The kitchen, Lorri unpacking. It has a cute little fridge, stove and dishwasher and a full-sized microwave! The TV is sort of up and behind the fridge. If you watch a lot of TV, this probably wouldn't be your favorite hotel room. We turned it on once just to see if it worked.

We started the evening at this place, just a short walk from the Inn. Sometime soon we hope to learn how to pronounce it.

They have a beautiful al fresco dining area.

But we opted to hang out at the bar with Carlos, the bartender!

That's Carlos with Lorri in the foreground.

Tonight's menu.

We had the oysters (excellent!) and then the duck breast prosciutto (not so excellent!) and crusty baguette with lots of butter (excellent!) and also, martinis (excellent!)

Lots of people in town.

At Pomme Frite we ordered the steamed mussels (excellent!) with a side of pomme frite and more bread to soak up the mussel juice.

It was a beautiful evening for outdoor dining!

Back at the Inn we had a poolside nightcap.

Saturday we walked around town and shopped. This is a typical Palm Springs changing room. Marilyn welcomes you!

My fave is Gas Station Happy Hours. Runner up: People Person

We stopped at world-famous Lulu's...

...for an attitude adjustment and a selfie.

Then we had lunch at the bar at Las Casuelas. Just noticed we got photo-bombed!

Had Saturday dinner at Il Giardino, a great little place recommended by a couple we met at the Inn. Sorry I didn't get photos. I must have been hungry! We shared a Caesar, Carbonara, Tiramisu, and a bottle of red! Very good dinner!

Sunday we decided to try the highly recommended Farm!

There was a half-hour wait and another beautiful day so we didn't mind the wait.

Here is Lorri not minding the wait!

My brunch: Bacon, Swiss cheese, strawberry French toast! Decadent!

On Sunday we took a nice walk through the Old Las Palmas neighborhood, an area once popular with A-list celebrities. We walked by the former homes of Liberace, Clark Gable and Csrole Lombard, Sammy Davis Jr., Fibber Magee and Mollie (maybe not A-list), Mary Pickford and Buddy Rogers, Harold Robbins, Edward G. Robinson, Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell, Kirk Douglas, and Sidney Sheldon.

Old Las Palmas

Most of the homes are not very visible from the street but here is what we could see.

Downtown Palm Springs!

Monday

Not far outside of town is Tahquits Canyon, part of the Agua Caliente Indian Reservation

There is a nice visitor center/souvenir shop at the entry. This time of year each hiker must have 32oz. of water. If you don't they will gladly sell you some as well as collect a few dollars for the hike.

It's mostly a loop trail with the highlight being the 60-foot waterfall at the northern end.

We started at the southern end!

Soon we came upon the creek. Lots of rain last winter so lots or water!

There were quit a few hikers but not so many that it was bothersome.

Part of an old diversion ditch

The trail was well-maintained - a few ups and downs but not too strenuous

Video of Lorri, the trail, and flowing water!

We made it to the falls!

The hikers. It was a fun hike and easy to get to.

We spent the rest of the day lazing around the pool

Resting my feet from all that hiking!

We drove home on Tuesday, stopping in Old Town Temecula for lunch.

Lunch!

Old Town!

It was very nice relaxing getaway.
