Palm Springs Getaway
September 29 - October 3
We had a reservation to return to the Coyote Inn in the Spring of 2020, and of course, COVID made that trip impossible. We're been trying to find the time to go back ever since!
It only has eight units and they surround the pool area. It's old-school Palm Springs, a little dated but cozy and nice.
It's an easy walk into town but very secluded and quiet. There is a trail along the top of this ridge and sometimes you can make out hikers working their way along.
This is our room, Unit 7
It has a fridge, a coffee-maker, a hot plate, and a microwave, and a high-top for two.
...and a bathroom!
It also has a private sitting area off the back
This is the view from our front door area.
And this is our front door - perfect for morning coffee and afternoon cocktail!
This is the view from the entry
A night view. For most of our visit, except for the owner, we were the only visitors!
We started off Friday evening at this place. We wanted to check it out since we had dinner reservations for the following night.
It turned out to be a great spot with excellent martinis for only around $20!
A selfie in the mirror
The next stop was a little more casual! "Crafted" tacos and drinks!
Here is my crafted beer and Lorri's crafted wine.
We were so hungry, we ate our crafted tacos before I could get a photo of them!
The corner of W. Arenas Rd. (our hotel was about three blocks that direction) and S. Palm Canyon Dr.
Friday night final selfie
Our Saturday morning took us to the Tennis Club.
It's a very nice facility with a restaurant, Spencer's, open to the public.
The main drag
There are lots of stars embedded in the sidewalks, I hope to tell you!
Also a few statues or sculptures here and there, Marilyn Monroe, Sonny Bono,
She's larger than life!
... Lucille Ball! Lorri loves Lucy.
Interesting trimming on the palm trees. Endangered palm rat habitat maybe.
Dinner
The menu
We split four courses and they very nicely split the plates in the kitchen for us so we didn't have to mess around splitting stuff ourselves.
We had the stuffed Bartlet pear
Maine lobster ravioli (partially eaten already!)
and the beef filet. Oh, and we started with oysters but ate them before I could take a photo!
It was a great dinner and we'll go back as as we save up enough$$$ !!!
Palm Canyon
On Monday we took a ride up to Palm Canyon to get some fresh air and exercise! This is the entry road. Don't know if I'd want to be driving a Greyhound bus here.
A creek runs the length of the canyon and I guess that's why all these palm trees grow here
That's Lorri working her way down from the visitors center above
Once down in the canyon the trail levels out and there is plenty of shade
I took a lot of photos and they all sort of look like this. Here you can see a little of the creek bed.
Palm Canyon selfie!
More palm trees and water
Final shot looking back up the canyon
Monday dinner was at Sammy G's Tuscan grill where we sat at the bar and had great happy hour drinks and food including this fried ravioli
And these were our servers
The weather was perfect, the Coyote Inn was great, Lorri behaved herself and it was an excellent beginning to my birthday month, Jacktober!
