Frash Bash!
Frank and Ashley's Wedding Weekend
at
Redwood Ranch,
Three Rivers, CA
To all my family and friends and friends of my family and friends: These are
most of my photos and videos I took over the weekend, I tried to get a few
good shots, but I tried (and succeeded!) to have some fun too, so if I
missed you or took a bad photo of you, my apologies. I hope you enjoy what
I've posted here.

Thursday, September 1

We heard that there was camping at Redwood Ranch, so we rented a camper van
through Ourdoorsy!

We packed it up, filled it up, and headed north

Very nice van, it's the TanVan on Outdoorsy, and the owners (very nice
people) live in Leucadia, a couple miles from us, which made pick-up and
drop-off very easy.

After a long detour to avoid the shutdown on I-5 due to a large brush fire,
we arrived and found our spot.

This is the ranch house, It's not nearly as rustic on the inside.

Thursday night was family fun night at a little place, Ol Buckaroo, in Three
Rivers, the closest little town to the venue.

Thankfully Ash and Frank arranged for a couple transport vans so nobody had
to navigate the skinny, curvy access road after beverages.

Here we are on the way

And here we are at the restaurant. Steve, Summer, Danny, Aline, Frank,
Dustin, Ashley, Sara, and Lynn.

Sara and Dustin were reunited with Sara's puppy, Maya. Maya was so happy. So
was Sara.

Me with the bride and maid of honor

And of course, Ginger joined the party too!

Happiness!

"Welcome Happy Hour"
Pizza night!

We tried to get our camping spot in order and luckily, because it was about
105 degrees, we were able to connect to electricity and run the van air
conditioner!

If we had no air conditioning, we probably would have spent most of the
weekend right here in the swimming area.

Swimming Hole

This bridge is just downstream from the swimming hole and leads across the
river to where the bears live. No kidding! There were a couple bear
sightings and evidence of bears too!

Lorri navigating the path to the river.

This is the totem pole in the ranch house. As an anthropologist specializing
in North American ethnology, I can tell what the symbols translate to from
top to bottom: Time to celebrate Ash and Frank's wedding. It's hot. It's
really hot. Glad swimming hole is nearby. Everybody is destined to have a
good time and a great weekend!

The campers kept pouring in. We were just to the right of the van with the
red lights on the back, the Kevin and Anne van.

Wedding Day!

This area is about halfway from the campground to the ranch house, pretty
much hidden in the woods, a couple hundred yards downstream from the main
swimming hole.

Later in the day, I would take a nice cool bath here.

"Campground" Saturday Morning

People spent the night in that Tesla! They ran the A/C off the battery!

That's us straight ahead with the back doors open.

We are so happy we were there! And we were so happy to see family and old
friends as well as meet and get to know new friends and "new" family.

There was an old-school rotary phone apparently connected to a recording
device where you could leave a message for Frank and Ash. This took the
place of a guest book. I don't know how long it took messages but I'm
guessing that some of the later ones were fairly colorful!

I understand she likes tequila and he likes wine

Kevin, our next door neighbor at the campground and Ashley and Sara's
friend, Jen

Not sure what Kevin is indicating here, but if he's indicating Jen is
looking good, I think we can all agree on that.

So sorry I missed Mary and Phelim coming down the aisle. I must have been
putting a new roll of film in my camera.

Ashley's train being arranged

Erin did a great job; she was witty, warm, and well-spoken. First wedding
ceremony I've been to where the officiant "roasts" the wedding couple, but
it was perfect!

I think Frank was a happy man.

As was Ash a happy young lady.

What a great spot to exchange vows.

Sara, holder of roses. Did she have a portable fan hidden among the buds?

Read your vows Ash!

And read them to each other

I think it's close to the end

Yup, looks like "you may kiss the bride" time

Sure enough!

After a whirlwind 7 year courtship, it finally happened!

Danny shares a few choice stories of Frank over the years. I didn't know
Frank was once a truck driver in Manhattan but had to leave and move to
California due to too many traffic violations!

Sara and Danny gave great toasts and then there was nothing left to do but
eat, drink, dance, and so on!

Sunday, September 4, Heading Home
The burnt out remains of the fire that forced our detour Wednesday
Somewhere just north of LA it was 112 degrees!
We made it home and it was time to put my turkey and peacock
feathered sombrero back in the closet!
It was a great extended weekend and we were excited and honored to be part
of it. To Ashley and Frank: Thanks so much for everything! You went to a lot
of trouble (and expense!) to make everything perfect for your family and
friends. The weekend was something we'll always remember! Well, most of it,
anyway...
Love, Jack and Lorri
