We've been wanting to host an Encinitas Yacht Club Happy Hour for quite a while, and finally, after all these years and after COVID (mostly) we made it happen. We pulled out the eYc flag and prepped the yard for the festivities!



It so happened that the next day was Opening Day at Del Mar, so we decided to have our own races right here in Encinitas! Here are our stable of thoroughbred race horses cavorting in the pasture (except for the one that came up lame and I had to shoot).



There was plenty of Wine!



And an abundance of highly nutritional and tasty food!



And of course, all sorts of adult beverages!

Race Time! ...And they're off!



The competition was fierce!



A roll of the dice could change your fate.



The fans were going crazy!



Throngs of spectators crowded the rail.



There were three preliminary contests with the top two finishers from each receiving an invitation to the final, the renowned eYc Derby. The fillies took four out of six spots!



All eyes were on the track



Mostly all eyes were on the track. (Hi Estella!)



The lead changed hands numerous times. Fans were standing, screaming, cheering, the atmosphere was electric!



In the end, it was a 1-2-3 finish for the ladies! Here they are with their winning entries and, more importantly, the envelopes with their cash winnings



After a long afternoon at the track, it was time for a little r&r. Here the horses are resting peacefully in the stables.
