Ocean City, May 31 to June 7, 2022

This is the beach two blocks from our rental house, just south of 55th
Street. That's Debbie, Mike and Lorri, checking things out.

Our rental, recently remodeled. I think we were the first renters.

The main activity area

The exterior. We had the whole house. Our unit was on the lower level.

Amazingly wide with fluffy white sand!

This is the boardwalk at about 5th street, probably about five miles from
where we stayed.

This was Wednesday, June 1, in the morning. Things were just starting to
open up.

Memorial Day weekend is busy, but things don't really get going until all
the kids are out of school. July and August are busy but this was still the
off season, or shoulder season.

The boardwalk is lined off and labeled for pedestrians, bicycles, and
runners.

No lanes on the boardwalk for aliens, though.

We turned around at the pier and headed back. Again, note the dunes. I don't
know if they will actually provide protection during a serious storm or
hurricane, but they look nice and the beaches certainly seem to be in good
shape.

Here we are on the roof-top deck looking east.

Lorri, little Jakey (maybe not so little), Deb and Mike.

Meet great granddaughter #2, Sloane Anne!

She's a happy easy-going baby.

Sloane and her mama Mal.

Uncle Jakey and Olivia Jane, great granddaughter #1

What is this you ask? Why it's Taylor Pork Roll and an egg with cheese, soon
to be ensconced in an English muffin!

The Taylor Pork Roll breakfast sandwich, a classic of the Jersey shore.
Making me hungry.

Watch your children!

There could be sharks!

Ok, maybe dead sharks, but still, watch your children.

Sloane and GGPJ. She's still not quite sure about me, but she's a good
sport.

She's a cutie!

The girls

Sloane with grandma GiGi.

Looking north from our front porch. There were a couple shops, restaurants,
a small grocery store and a retail seafood place right around the corner.

GiGi found the wine!

GML found the wine too!

GPJ enjoying a moisturizing facial mask. Good thing the kids were already in
bed. Kind of scary!

Beach days. It was clear, warm, and a little breezy. That's Atlantic City on
the horizon, about 15 miles away.

Happy baby on the beach

Sisters!

Colin, Malarie, and the kiddies.

..and Deb and Mike

...and Jack and Lorri

...and the whole family, except we're missing Jake and Beth :-(

Looks like getting ready for beddy-bye

This proves we took a road trip to Sea Isle City which is a few miles south
of OC.

Last day I walked south to the end of the nature preserve and the south end
of Ocean City and the bridge that connects to the next island.
Well, sadly it was time to leave. We drove to a hotel near BWI, spent the
night there and took off the next day.

But not before we had a Bloody Mary at an airport bar. Thankfully, airports
have bars!

We switched planes in Houston and I was able to snap this photo of the
downtown area as we were arriving.

Arriving in San Diego I got a shot of Otay Ranch, a planned community where
my old company did and is still doing most of the civil engineering and
surveying.

Adios Abby Cupcake!
It was a great visit with daughter Debbie and the whole Filling clan. Sorry
to miss Beth but I'm sure we'll see her and the rest of the family again
soon! Love to all!
