We left Williamsburg on Monday, May 30th, Memorial Day.

We were heading to Ocean City, NJ, with an overnight stop in Rehoboth Beach,
Delaware. We traversed the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay on the Bay-Bridge
Tunnel and drove up the Delmarva Peninsula to Rehoboth.

This was our hotel. Our room was on the top floor, far right. (This photo
was taken the next day. The Memorial Day crowd had left.)

View from our room looking east.

View of our room looking south!

Our high chairs made it much nicer to sit out and enjoy the views. We could
see over the railing!

The water tower. The highest elevation here is probably about 12 feet so
instead of putting water tanks on hilltops (of which there are none) like we
do in San Diego, they put them up in the air.

The boardwalk was crowded on Memorial Day

They've done a great job establishing the dunes along the beach.

A path over the dunes.

We stopped for a bucket full of Thrasher's Fries which are great! Except
they don't serve ketchup! What the....? We had to settle for salt and a
little malted vinegar and we ate every last one!

I brought my own.

Must be thousands of dollars!

You don't have to look far to find Penn State stuff or people sporting Penn
State logo attire.

Dinner al fresco at Cooter Brown's

Great way to wind down the day

Good dinner, good company, good wine, good ambiance, bad restaurant name.

Morning walk on the sandy beach, looking south - plenty of room to roam!

Looking north

Looking east, looking at Lorri too!

Somebody's sand sculpture

The lifeguard stand got turned around. Check out the dunes.

The boardwalk is much narrower here to the north of the downtown area.
Tuesday, May 31. Time to leave Rehoboth for New Jersey

Waiting to board the Cape May - Lewes Ferry. That's what they call it no
matter which direction you're traveling.

Driving on the the boat

Looking aft from the bow. (Nautucal terms!)

It was like a mini cruise ship, sort of, with deck chairs, a bar, a
cafeteria, a souvinir shop!

Approaching Cape May

The steerage, maybe. We had to steer the car to get here. Must be steerage.

Welcome to Cape May! On to Ocean City!
