Thursday, August 15, the long-planned Coaster trip to Little Italy finally happened!



We caught the Southbound at Encinitas Station at 3:00 and headed to the last coach where we found the Oceanside contingent.



 Commodore AJ and Marcia sat across from us.



Tom and Pauline were across the aisle



As were Greg and Kelly



Steve "Nelly" Nelson and Lady Dianne were a couple rows back



As was Richard. It was a beautiful afternoon for a train ride and luckily, we didn't fall off the bluffs in Del Mar but there was a slight delay in the University City area due to a small brush fire.



Our first stop was the Little Italy Food Hall Bar. Hey! It was a long trip!



Here we are with the bar in the background, sharing food from the various restaurants, all good stuff!



I try to wait until people have their mouths full just to see how they deal with it. Tom and Marcia look pretty good, and Pauline was only drinking,



Sam the Cooking Guy owns and runs Not Not Tacos. That's him with his back to the camera.



Sam came over and hung out with us for a bit. He's a pretty cool, down to earth dude.



I sent him an email a couple days earlier through a link on his website letting him know the EYC would be invading his turf.



He sent an actual personal email reply saying he'd love to meet us, and sure enough, there he was!



I'm including all these group photos because somebody different has their eyes closed in each one. Pick your favorite.



I managed to corral Sam for a selfie.

Time to head  back to the Santa Fe Depot to catch the 7:12 Northbound. The Star of India with the Bay in the background.



Sam thought Richard looked just like Wilford Brimley, the actor.

Moonlight Beach last summer concert.



The weather was perfect and the beach-goers were out in force. That's the stage in the middle of the photo.



So you sit in your beach chair and people sit in front of you and put up an umbrella. It makes it kind of hard to see the band, but it's fun! You can hear them!
