Superstork 2017
January 29, Forgotten Barrel Winery, Escondido, CA
Irish Party!
Featuring Tommy and Saundra O'Sullivan, all the way from Dingle, Ireland!
It's Forgotten Barrel now but it used to be Ferarra Winery for many, many years.
Many of the fixtures, barrels, hardware and machinery are still onsite.
Some of the old stuff is useable, some not (like this barrel), but much of it is interesting to look at.
This is Roger, the head honcho of Forgotten Barrel explaining his vision for the property and the future of his winery.
Here is Greg behind the bar pouring wine, as usual.
And here is Kelly looking for a few Dirty Forks, Please. I thought it said "Dirty Folks" when I first glanced at the sign.
Roger's tour of the old winery continues.
These look like "Forgotten Barrels" to me! I would like to have seen this winery in its heyday.
If you're ever short a table, just use your fork lift.
Failte, welcome, Saundra and Tommy
This is Saundra and Tommy. Tommy plays guitar and they both sing beautifully, some traditional Irish tunes as well as some select modern Irish tunes.
This is a photo from a few years ago with Greg and Kelly in Dingle, Ireland, outside Tommy and Saundra's bar.
Lorri, Saundra, Greg and Kelly inside O'Sullivan's Courthouse Bar. Greg and Kelly have been back several times since then.
Feral oranges.
It's interesting to explore the property and try to guess what the decaying equipment was used for.
It will be fun to see how Roger and his team renovate, rejuvenate and utilize the potential of this last farm in Escondido.
OK, this is a, um, wine thing, some barrel hoops, and maybe some sort of scale.
I can envision this arbor in the future covered with grape vines which will provide shade for the visitors enjoying their wines and picnic lunches.
The property was part of this Rancho. Most of it has been subdivided into single family lots but the plot that remains is a blast from the past.
Hard to see Tommy and Saundra. They're in the far corner singing away.
Lorri's sister Lynn lives a mile or so from here.
It was a beautiful day!
Nellie and Bev
Pam, Kelly, Craig and...I should know...
Skip, AJ, Marcia and Kathy
Carol, Bob, Barney, Ted and Alice (Sorry, I don't know these people, but maybe you do!)
Thanks to Roger, Mitzi, Greg and Kelly for all their hard work making this happen. Lot's of fun!
