For our 30th Anniversary we decided to take a mini-vacation in the Gaslamp District downtown.

When we checked in to our room at the Omni, this is what we found!

And this was our view! We were on the 18 floor in a corner room. That's the Convention Center and beyond that is the Bay, then Coronado and then Point Loma in the distance.

We arrived on Sunday afternoon at around 3:00 o'clock, the last day of Comic Con!

I thought the crowds would have cleared out by then, but they were not! There was something or somebody to see on every corner.

5th Avenue was partially closed to traffic.

Buildings were plastered with ads and posters of all sorts.

We had to take an interesting route to get to the parking garage because other streets were closed or had limited access.

Hey, who ordered the Heisenberg?

Must have been this guy.

We stopped at The Hopping Pig for a brew and some people-watching.

Wow! It's been there since 2010! A virtual lifetime in the Gaslamp!

Next stop, Osetra, much calmer since it's a few blocks up 5th from the Convention Center.

Ahh, oysters and an "Anniversary Roll", good stuff!

"Celebrating the Popular Arts"

Nor sure what Homer is up to here but he looks serious about it.

We hiked East Village streets until we found Botega Americano, sort of a miniature Eataly.

Really a nice concept. That's Lorri at the bar in the distance.

Wood-fired pizza and other delights at different prep stations as well as a small Italian market.

Yes, Conan was in town. That's the Marriott on which his sort-of likeness is plastered upon.

We never got tired of the view from our room. There were plenty of Navy vessels coming and going.

Lunch at Cafe Chloe and Wine Bar, a Frenchy sort of place in East Village.

Chloe

We had our special Anniversary dinner at Mr. A's.

The service was OK, the food was OK, the view was excellent and the love of my life was simply radiant!

View toward Petco from the pedestrian bridge over Harbor Drive and the railroad tracks

Our room was on the 18th floor of the Omni, the building on the left.

The posters are up already. They are trying to get people to commit to season ticket packages, thereby guaranteeing tickets to the All-Star Game. We'll see how that ploy goes. Hey, I have an idea! Put a winning team on the field and you'll sell season seats!

We took the ferry to Coronado.

The view from the Coronado Ferry Landing

Had to stop for a Guinness!

The Hotel Del Coronado

Our ferry

A gigantic ship!

Breakfast here on our last day

Selfie from Seaport Village

Our backyard on the last night of our staycation!

It was a great getaway, but nice to be home.

Happy Anniversary, my sweet!
