The Padres

We've been to two day games and did a tour of Petco Park when we were downtown for our 30 Anniversary "staycation", so I've consolidated the photos on this one page.

We decided last minute to take the train down to see an afternoon game against the A's in June. This is the view from the seats we got through Stub Hub, not bad, and we paid less than half face value.

This is us in our Stub Hub seats

This is Lorri on the train ride home.

Our next trip to the Pads was on July 1st with Tom and Patty.

We made the traditional stop at The Brick before heading up to our seats.

The seats were directly in front of the TV broadcast booth and Mark Grant was kind enough to pose for a photo. Dick Enberg was busy working on his HOF speech.

Selfie from my seat. The seats were compliments of Tom and Patty's son Ryan who knows people who know people! Thanks Ryan!

View from our seats

Our seats were actually leather swivel chairs with a counter and waitress service!

Patty and Lorri enjoying their beverages

Yup, good seats!

I'm not saying who we played or who won these games because the Padres are not doing well and I don't want to talk about it.

Ballpark Tour

While we were downtown for our anniversary celebration, we went on the Petco Park tour. It was All Star week so things were pretty quiet.

It was fun to stand on the field, a much different perspective than from the stands.

Home of the hard-working grounds crew

The labyrinths under the stadium are not very impressive.

Neither was the visitors clubhouse

This is our tour guide inside the visitors clubhouse

The Padres Clubhouse was off limits so we didn't see that. Our tour guide said it is nicer and bigger than the visitors'.
I hope so.

They have a guy that sits here during games and watches the action and the replays. If he thinks the manager should appeal a call, he makes a phone call to the dugout.

Here I am calling for help from the dugout. The Pads need all the help they can get.

Our new manager. Why is he wearing an O's shirt?

Just to prove we were here...

Put me in coach! I can play!

Venable, Myers, Middlebrooks, Kemp, Upton and Upton, Jr.
They keep their helmets here during games. Good thing the names are taped on. Some of them will be moving on soon, I think.

What?

Guess I should have worn a Padres hat instead of Penn State.

Large photo of the 1992 All-Star Game. It's in black and white and looks about a hundred years old! Hey guys, it wasn't that long ago. I was there! There has to be a better photo somewhere.

Go Padres! (Next year is the year. Or maybe the year after that. Or maybe...)
