Thursday

As usual, Lorri and I "camped" at Estrella Regional Park on our first night out, which was March 12 this year

It's a nice, quiet (and cheap!) place to spend a night. It's just south of Goodyear which is a little southwest of Downtown off of I-10.

We're at the Boy Scout group site which, fortunately, they only inhabit on weekends this time of year. There was no one within a few hundred yards of us.

We set up, broke open some wine and got ready for the weekend.

Our living room

It's hard to take a selfie with a DSLR

We had our choice or three trash cans to use!

Estrella Peak, maybe.

The non-sunset. These were virtually the last clouds we saw all weekend.

Friday, March 13 (Friday the 13th, yikes!)

Since Goodyear Park is just up the street from where we camped, and the Padres were playing way across town, we decided to go see the Cleveland Indians take on the AZ Diamondbacks at Goodyear.

I didn't like this baseball sculpture at first. Not sure what it's supposed to mean.

Should have taken a selfie!

I think that if I lived in Cleveland, I would make every effort to go to Spring Training in Arizona.

Cleveland weather would drive me batty.

Enough about Cleveland.

The real reason we came here is that the Padres were to play here on Sunday, so we were scouting good places to tailgate. We found one.

Goodyear is a great little park shared by Cleveland and Cincinnati.

Not much of a crowd today.

Good logo!

Game time. Nothing like palm trees in the outfield.

This is Zizzy, I think. Which came first, Zizzy or the sculpture? I know the Swingin' Friar is lame but...

A view from the outfield

********Saturday, March 14********

Mmmm....fried onions for tri-tip sandwiches. Unfortunately this batch fell off the stove onto the gravel but we had more.

Lorri, Kim and Pam getting started.

Patty and Lorri

Ashley, Jen and the bean bag boys.

Jen and Ash

Sean and Nick

Ryan was a little under the weather all weekend but he carried on like a true Thompson.

Our traditional tailgating location.

Another view. It's close to Salty Senoritas so that we can use their facilities as well as purchase the occasional shot of something, tequila mostly.

What is Nick trying to say?

Ryan and Tommy

Julian, another Ryan, Ash and Jen

again

The whole group

again

and again! What a crowd!

Padres vs. Texas Rangers today

Check out the "Frog Tog" towels around the necks. You get them wet and they keep you cool, supposedly.

It was going up to 90 degrees!

Good photo! Who took that?

Tom is welcoming everyone to The Peoria Sports Complex.

Ryan is saying: "Dad, come on, enough theatrics, let's go get a beer."

Game on!

Tom and Ryan get photo bombed.

Here we go Padres!

The view from our seats.

We could call balls and strikes.

The view of our seats

This year they painted a home run line across the big batter's eye in center field so they don't have to hit over the top of it for a HR.

Getting ready for a post-game photo...

...still getting ready...

Here we go!

Here we go again!

and again. Your job is to pick out the differences in each photo.

Here's a good one, finally.

Hey, what's so funny?

Here are the cousins, Nick and Ashley with their friends Jennifer, Julian, Sean, Ryan and Alex Dickerson who plays for the Pads. This was taken at Salty Senoritas.
