We arrived in Williamsburg Friday evening, May 9, 2014, and awaited the Fillings arrival. Unfortunately, Jake couldn't make it because of his heavy academic load and the two jobs he had. So it was just Mike, Debbie and Mal Mal joining Lorri, Uncle Hobble and me.

Malarie and Lorri in the kitchen at Dogwood

Mike left straight from work and met Deb and Mal somewhere south of Baltimore.

"Great" Uncle Hobble entertaining Mal

Grandpa Jack (GPJ) and Mal. Can you believe she's 22 now?

Saturday at The Blue Talon. Nothing like sitting at the bar with a morning beverage, watching Julia Child reruns and working up an appetite.

I think the bartender was a little shaky here

There's Julia!

Later on, back at the ranch, Uncle Hobble is hacking down a bush in search of errant golf balls.

OK, I'm posting all this in July and I've kind of lost track of what photos where what day.

Later on...

Dinner time!

OK, smile for the camera Lorri.

I think that's it for the Filling visit. We had a great weekend and were happy they made the long drive from Baltimore to see us!

How about a beer? Certainly!
We went to Yorktown with my bro.

Here are some scenes from Colonial Williamsburg. I know...boring. But I like them, so that's why they're here.

Nothing like spring in the Burg.

They have flowers!

...and old houses...

...and the Governor's Palace...

And Jack and Lorri

Holy Sheep Shears! That's what's happening here!

Did I mention flowers? I think those round purple ones are the famous and rare Yorktown Onion flowers

Ye olde Colonial fire hydrant. George Washington's dog peed here.

Tending the gardens, thank you very mulch!

Oh yeah, this guy is my second cousin on my mother's side. He was walking down Duke of Gloucester Street wearing a hat with her maiden name on it, so I stopped to ask him about it. Turns out we have the same great-grandfather.

While in Jamestowne it is mandatory to have your photo taken with Pocahontas.

Oh oh, another Thursday night. This time we went to the Fat Canary, another favorite Williamsburg restaurant.

Gotta love the logo

Here's what it means:

And here is the top item on the app menu:

And here is half the fricassee of rabbit. Lorri had the other half.

A few final photos from Williamsburg

We went beer-tasting at the Williamsburg Alewerks and enjoyed a few fine brews made in the traditional manner.

There was a gathering of Fife and Drummer corps from around the country and Canada

Fortunately, after enjoying the fifes and drums for a while, we were able to relax with a cool draught beer and Chownings Tavern.

All in all it was a fine trip and a good time with my brother Bob (and Deb, Mike and Mal) in Williamsburg.

Here are the Awesome Brothers laying waste to a growler of grog from the Alewerks
