In mid-October the weather was looking good so we grabbed a campsite at San Elijo State Beach for a couple nights and kicked back for a bit.

We set up the screen room, not because of bugs, there were none, but for a little added privacy.

Ocean to the left, fire pit to the front, flowers in the middle.

Looking the other way, toward the southwest

All of a sudden a fog bank swooped up from the south. This is a large sand-dredging boat.

The little surfers to the right are about to be swallowed up. So is the dredger.

It took about a minute for the boat to disappear.

...and then it was gone.

Well the boat was not gone, I guess. You can see its outline to the left of the sun in this photo.

The next day was clear and bright. You can see the marine layer out there but it later dissipated and never came back in that day.

We were joined for afternoon cocktails by Greg, Kelly, AJ, John and Jan

It was a great spur of the moment mini-vacation!
