September 24, 25 & 26, 2010,
Cuyamaca State Park
We joined the Evers clan for a weekend, of camping, fun and games in
the local mountains.

We set up our weekend homes at campsites 53 and 54, including our
antique (circa 1972) Coleman tent and the Ever's slightly newer model.

We also set up our screen room (which is what you see in the photo on
the left) which was a good thing because this happened to be bug weekend
at Green Valley Falls - lots of bees and gnats. The screen room was our
refuge.

We did manage to cook and consume some hearty fair before heading off
to find the falls.

Here we are on the long and arduous Falls trail. I think it was
almost a mile from our camping spot! How did we walk so far?

Ash is getting ready to negotiate the rocks; the sisters Lorri &
Lynn; the other photographer in the group, Sara.

Ashley negotiating more rocks; me wondering how Penn State is doing
against Temple (we won!); Steve being Steve and Ash & Gregg hanging out
on a boulder.

The group; Lynn and water; leaf and bug on the water surface, green
stuff and shadows on the bottom; Lorri & Lynn on the rocks.

Gregg getting ready to jump; Ashley wondering why Gregg jumped; Steve
after he jumped; Steve still trying to get out after he jumped. There
was a deep pool under a rock ledge that invited the brave ones to take a
plunge into the frigid water.

Gregg in the air; Ash & Sara watching the action; big daddy Steve
airborne; Sara & Ash waiting for their dad to surface.

Gregg once again jumping into the depths; a peaceful scene; Lynn &
Lorri cooling their feet.
Well, that's it for my photos from the weekend. It was a great
gathering except for the bugs. We had a couple excellent outdoor dinners
and bonfires. (The bugs retired at dusk!) S'mores, drinking games, bawdy
stories, campfire songs and falling asleep to the sound of crickets and
people's feet shuffling in the gravel as they made their way to the
bathrooms. Camping at its finest!
