Holidays		 Continuing the tradition of retirement gatherings, we met on the beach near the old Charlie's restaurant in Cardiff to celebrate the recent retirement of our friend Marilyn from around a hundred years of teaching school in Encinitas. We position ourselves so that we can wave to all the hard-working still-employed people heading to their jobs on the Coaster or Amtrak or in the cars on Coast Highway.

We have coffee (perhaps with a little Kahlua or Bailey's), orange juice (perhaps with a little bubbly), donuts, and other unhealthful morsels. Lady Di brought a big bagful of Subway breakfast sandwiches.

It was a little chilly to start but warmed up before too long. (Maybe it was the coffee. Maybe it was the Champagne.)

Congratulations to Marilyn on her retirement! May she and Richard enjoy many, many years of the good life!
