Mini Wine Trip

OK, we were tired of June gloom and it was July 5th, still no sign of the sun, so we decided to jump in the van and find a place where we could enjoy a little sunshine.

We headed to the Temecula Wine producing area and found what we were looking for. We found some sunshine too.

Temecula has grown up a lot since the last time we spent any time there. There are 30-something tasting rooms, hotels and resorts springing up all over the place.

We did some tasting at Hart and then Stuart, later stopping by South Coast Winery Resort and Spa, which is over-the-top. There was no space at the tasting bar so we just walked around and thought "what the heck?"

We spent the night at Lake Skinner, which is a nice facility. Thankfully the July 4th weekend crowd was mostly cleared out by Monday night.

The next day we stopped at Mt Palomar Winery on our way home.

Their wine was the best we tasted of the three wineries where we did tasting. We then headed back to coastal Encinitas where it was still socked in and has been every day except for four days since, like, Easter! Today is July 24!
