Williamsburg Farmers Market

It was a little chilly on November 22 for one of the pre-holiday Farmers
Market in Merchant Square.
It was still sunny on Sunday the 23rd, so we walked around the Historic
Area and snapped a few photos. I can't help it. It's a habit.
The Historic Area

Baaaaahhhhh!

A bloomin' tree!

Mooooooo!

Thanksgiving, November 27
Sunny yet again! We walked back through Merchant Square and caught a
one-man version of Charles Dicken's "Christmas Carol" in 15 minutes! Hilarious!

Next we went searching for the indoor tennis center but found the
School of Law instead.

William & Mary School of Law, featuring John Marshall and George
Wythe...and a bird.
Richmond, December 2, Tuesday
Although we're not Civil War buffs we thought it would be interesting
to visit a couple sites in the Richmond area, starting at the "Richmond
National Battlefield Park Civil War Visitor Center".

It's located on downtown Richmond along the James River in the
buildings once occupied by the Tredegar Iron Works.
The Visitor Center serves as the hub of the many battlefields and
Civil War sites located in and around the City.

We learned a lot about the War in Richmond at the Visitor Center and
we also learned of a great place for lunch called "The Hill Cafe", named
after the Church Hill area and not one of my relatives.

After lunch we stopped and snapped a couple shots of the "view that
named the City". I think it must have looked nicer on a sunny summer day
long ago. That's our little rental car on the right.
Fort Harrison
We decided to vist Fort Harrison, southeast of the City, since we
didn't have a whole lot of time before we were scheduled to pick up
Cousin Chris at the airport, which is also on the east side of the City.

The extent of "earthworks" still intact, or somewhat intact was
surprising. I suppose over the years they will erode away or start to
blend into the surrounding terrain, but now they are still a very
visible reminder of what went on here.
